T-Meets to kick off with first sold-out outing on Feb. 25

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (February 24, 2023) — T-MODE, an organization in the Metro DC area that celebrates everything Japanese, offers a fun and casual way for people to connect with each other and share meaningful experiences.

And now, the group is pleased to announce their upcoming T-MODE T-Meets, the first in a series of local gatherings to bring like-minded area residents together for a day of fun and discovery.

While the opening event sold out quickly, it's the first in a series of T-Meet events that allow area residents to explore Japanese culture without the hassle of international travel.

Whether trying new foods, exploring new places, or simply hanging out, T-Meets provides a welcoming atmosphere for anyone looking to meet new people and explore new cultural identities.

"Our goal is to bring people together and create a community where everyone feels welcome," said T-MODE CEO Sharvonique Renee Fortune. "Our events are all about hanging out, having fun and making friends."

T-MODE organizes local gatherings and food outings around the Metro DC area, providing an excellent opportunity to connect and experience new things while celebrating the best in Japanese culture.

From exploring museums and art galleries to trying out new restaurants and food trucks, T-Meets offer something for everyone. This inaugural event will bring attendees to the Bloop Museum for a private facility tour.

"Our events are open to everyone, regardless of their interests or backgrounds," Fortune said. "We believe everyone has something to offer. We're excited to bring people together to share their experiences and create new ones."

The Bloop Museum is dedicated to computers, games, and electronic entertainment, featuring systems dating back to the UNIVAC era, as well as exhibits on IBM, Apple, DEC, and more.

In addition, the museum has a new Japanese computer exhibit and a Cray Supercomputer, which attendees can take selfies with.

The private tour will occur at 1 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Bloop Museum in Hunt Valley, M.D.

Brendan Becker, the tour guide for the event, is the founder and curator of the Bloop Museum.

He is also an authentic chiptune musician and video game composer named Inverse Phase.

With his extensive knowledge of consoles, computers, and more, Becker is sure to provide a fun and informative tour of the museum.

"We're thrilled to kick off 2023 with this private tour of the Bloop Museum," Fortune said. "This event is a fantastic opportunity for our members to learn about the history of computers, games, and electronic entertainment, while also connecting in a fun and casual setting."

Attendees are encouraged to consider supporting the Bloop Museum through a minimum monetary donation of $10, signing up for the museum's Patreon, purchasing items from the gift shop, or contributing old games and media to the museum's interactive library.
