Hanami

Hanami means "flower viewing" in Japanese. It’s the traditional custom of enjoying the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms, known as sakura, in spring. Friends and families gather to celebrate sakura with picnics, music and fun.

We’re super excited to celebrate hanami in DC with the T-MODE Cherry Blossom Cruise!

Set sail with T-MODE on the Cherry Blossom Riverboat for an incredible sightseeing cruise of the cherry blossoms in Washington, DC. Avoid the crowds and enjoy the beautiful hanami views from the water.

 

Welcome Aboard

The Cherry Blossom Riverboat is a traditional paddlewheel style vessel with antique charm and sophistication. It's an authentic re-creation of a 19th century Victorian riverboat, and one of only six split sternwheelers in the country.

The Cherry Blossom departs and returns to the dock in Old Town Alexandria. You will be checked in at the dock before boarding. Your eTicket and a government-issued photo ID are required to board, no exceptions. Must be age 18+ to attend.

Boarding starts promptly at 11:45am. Meet at the Alexandria City Marina Dock (near Chart House restaurant). We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before boarding time. The cruise is scheduled to depart at 12:00pm and return at 3:00pm, times subject to change.

 

Maid Cafe

Pixel Pop Maid Café will be onboard to delight you with live performances, fun games, and so much more. No reservations needed. Are we the first in history to host a Maid Cafe on a boat?! Be sure to join us so you can make history, too!

Need to restore your HP after a long week? Come enjoy delicious refreshments, live performances, and interactive games with Pixel Pop Maid Café! Inspired by the Japanese maid cafés of Akihabara, Pixel Pop adds a video game-themed twist to create a cafe where YOU are the Hero!

They pop up at various events around the Mid-Atlantic region, and they're so excited to partner with T-MODE! Visit Pixel Pop and receive “Power Ups” from their maids to recharge your mana before continuing on your adventure.

Catered Lunch

Enjoy a delicious Bento Box Lunch served with a special Cherry Blossom Dessert!

You’ll be able to select your lunch option when you purchase your ticket. Complimentary soda/water beverages are included with your meal.

 

Cosplay

We’re on a boat! This is the perfect opportunity to cosplay water themed characters or to give your favorites a nautical spin.

Have fun showcasing water or cherry blossom inspired kimonos, street wear, original designs, and cosplays from anime, manga, video games, comics and other areas of fandom. We can’t wait to see you show up and show out!

The Cherry Blossom Riverboat and picturesque Old Town Alexandria will also make fantastic and unique backdrops for your cosplay photos.

Cosplay, traditional Japanese attire, and Japanese street fashion are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED, but not mandatory.

The party keeps going. Vibe to the rhythmic energy of a Live DJ, take in breathtaking cherry blossom views on the rooftop deck, and enjoy other fun activities in a festive atmosphere.
